Role: Data Analytics, Focus Group Moderation
Date: August 2022 thru December 2022
In my last semester of Undergrad I took on an internship for Gage. This internship was focused on Market Research on the users of the app. The forms of gathering research were surveys, polls, focus groups, and data analysis.
In 2022 Henshaw Companies launched GAGE, a workforce development app designed to measure performance, grow people, and win at culture. Through thoughtful feedback and an employment score, GAGE helps companies build better businesses, as the new gold standard in people development. GAGE was looking for market research interns to help them reach their goals: Maximize employee retention and engagement on the go. Employers want to attract, develop and retain good people. Employees want recognition for their work, feedback, and growth opportunities. GAGE creates a work environment that makes all of this possible.
I worked closely with my fellow interns and company founder/CEO Justin Henshaw to meet our research objectives. The goals were to find out the appeal of the idea, the efficiencies of the app and desktop formats, and what hesitations people have towards Gage as a whole. My primary research methods were Focus Groups, Interviews, and Surveys. The secondary research methods used included market desire, worker retention, and job satisfaction. We needed to attend Henshaw's pitches in multiple class settings at the college, launch events, and many talks with prospective clients.
94.5% of respondents perceived the Gage pitch as good or excellent
97.2% of respondents believe Gage will be very or extremely effective
52 out of 73 respondents are excited about the idea of Gage replacing the resume
Employees thrive off of recognition and rewards
Perfect use for age 18-26, part-time employees
Target user is generally excited and on board
Analogy comparing to a credit score frightens 80% of users
